Just testing a YouTube link that Bob K sent. The question was whether such a link impacts the board. I don't think it does. The still image comes from YouTube (and not the message board), and when you press the play button, the movie plays in the browser's window, fed directly from YouTube. So the only impact is on the viewer's Internet connection.

Man! This gets my adrenaline running just sitting and watching.

I have a fast connection, and it plays immediately and smoothly.

I am using Windows Vista... I see that in the Firefox browser (my preferred one), it plays by clicking the play button in the center of the image. But this does NOT work in Internet Explorer. Instead, click the play button on the lower left of the image. IE also displayed a popup about using Enter and Spacebar to start it, tried that, and it too works.

Do others have problems viewing? If you can't view the above, here's a link to the YouTube site where it is displayed.

To post this, I had to first set the "Markup" to allow HTML (there are two choices, both should work). The YouTube code to post it looks like this:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wuw_W0SgIkQ&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wuw_W0SgIkQ&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

OK, in my next lifetime I am going to learn coding. Hmmm...

Actually, I'm running IE and the play button in the middle of the screen worked fine. Would love to learn how to do that with some of my slide shows. I'll play with it when I get time...

Thanks for the info, Steve!

Laura, If you want, in this lifetime you can look for the word "embed" in the right half of the Youtube page and copy the HTML code that is in a window just below it and then paste it into a message. Be sure to turn on "HTML" when composing the message, like Steve wrote.

Clicking the play button in the middle of the screen also works for me, but I have to click it twice. Not a double click, but two single clicks. I think the first one selects the application, and the second plays it. (Active-X maybe?) This might vary depending on your browser security settings.

HELP! I am trying to embed a vid I shot this past weekend and I can't get it to work! My message is set on HTML acceptance, or watevah, and I pasted the code into the message (it's posted on the board now). Some hand holding, please!

Laura, I grabbed your html and posted it here, and it worked. I sure had to turn down the volume! Your "gale" came through loud and clear.

I think the only thing you did wrong was to forget to change the "Markup" option (just below the text input window) to "using UBB and HTML". You can ONLY do that the FIRST time you post your message. The option disappears on the edit window.

Here's your video:
